Susan Jeanne Scott, 70, of Jonesboro passed away Monday, Oct. 26, 2026, at St. Bernard’s Medical Center.
Susan was born June 26, 1956, in Little Rock to Howard Bannister Alderson and Mary Ruth Alderson. She was a 1974 graduate of Stuttgart High School and a 1982 graduate of the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville with an accounting degree. She worked at Mid-Delta Health Systems in Clarendon for 24 years as an accountant before retirement.
Susan loved the beach and went as often as possible. She has a sign in her kitchen that says, “The Sound of the Sea Restores My Soul”.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jeffery Scott.
Survivors are her two brothers, Morgan Alderson (Melinda) and David Alderson (Maurie), all of Stuttgart; and her sister, Nancy Wagner (Jim) of Jonesboro. Also surviving are many beloved nieces and nephews.
Susan would also want to lift up a special group of lifelong friends, the girls of ’74, also known as “the Posse”. They are sisters by choice who have been by her side through all of the good times and held her up through all of the hard times.
She leaves a legacy of giving. A lifetime of love to family and many dear friends, and tangible gifts to charities she held dear through Susan G. Komen walks for cancer from 2009-2015 in several states and local cancer charities which meant so much to her.
A memorial service, officiated by Jim Branson, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, in the chapel at Lone Tree Cemetery.
