Phyllis Ann Trice Snider, 87, of Ulm, Arkansas, passed away on November 27, 2024, surrounded by the love and bedside presence of her family, leaving behind the cherished memories of a well-lived life. Born on October 6, 1937, in Stuttgart, Arkansas, to Richard and Eunice Trice, Phyllis was a proud graduate of Humnoke High School, where she excelled on the basketball court and fostered a lifelong love for the game, which she passed along to her late daughter, Gwyn.
On August 23, 1959, Phyllis married the love of her life, Gerald Snider, at the Humnoke United Methodist Church. Their wedding was a celebration of community and love, capped off with a reception at the Riceland Hotel in Stuttgart. The couple shared an extraordinary partnership of 65 years, rooted in mutual respect, laughter, and a shared love of life’s simple pleasures. Whether supporting Gerald in his passion for horses, cheering he and Gwyn on at competitions, or casting a line together on a peaceful fishing trip, Phyllis was a steadfast partner in all of his adventures, until illness eventually prevented her from it.
Phyllis attended Arkansas Teachers College in Conway for a year before moving to Draughon Business College in Little Rock, where she honed her skills for a career in bookkeeping, which began at Riceland Foods, later flourished at Stuttgart Medical Clinic, plus she kept the books for Gerald’s Exxon station.
Known for her professionalism and warm demeanor, she dedicated 37 years to the Stuttgart Medical Clinic before retiring—though her colleagues begged her to stay. Literally everyone in town and the surrounding region knew who she was because her window was the last stop for everyone who came to the clinic.
It’s important to note that the Christian Faith was a cornerstone of Phyllis’s life. She served as the pianist for the Humnoke United Methodist Church for many decades, touching the hearts of congregants with her music and dedication. A lifelong member of the church, her presence was deeply felt and is fondly remembered by all who attended.
Phyllis was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, and aunt who placed family above all else. She cared for her parents, Richard and Eunice, until their passing, and later became a caretaker for her beloved daughter, Gwyn, during her battle with cancer. Her compassion and selflessness were a testament to her deep love for her family.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Eunice Trice, and daughter Gwyn. She is survived by her devoted husband, Gerald Snider of Ulm, brother, Rick (Karen) of Vilonia, Arkansas; nephew, Bruce (Janice Kathryn), of North Little Rock; niece, Nancy (Matt) Brittain of Victoria, Texas, niece, RaeAnn Lockwood (Kent) of Stuttgart, nephew Chad Moody of Brummett, brother-in-law, Gene Moody also of Brummett, former sister-in-law Marian McGovern of Rogers, AR, along with a large extended family of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and countless friends across Arkansas, who were blessed to know her.
Phyllis’ legacy is one of unwavering faith, unconditional love, and a steadfast commitment to those she held dear. She will be deeply missed but remembered always for the grace, kindness, and joy she brought into the lives of all who knew her.
A very special note of gratitude goes out to Aunt Phyllis’ caretaker Genevieve “Gen” Dyce, along with Amy Howard and Alexis Tadlock.
Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. at Turpin Funeral Home on Saturday, November 30th. Funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. with burial afterward at Lone Tree Cemetery in Stuttgart.
