Mary Elizabeth Turney

Mary Elizabeth Turney, 95, of Stuttgart, widow of Samuel Turney, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2025.

Mrs. Turney was born May 26, 1930, in Jefferson County, Arkansas, to Noah and Bessie Mae Young McCarty. She was a devoted homemaker and a longtime member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was welcomed into her heavenly home by two sons, Richard Aaron Turney and Ronald Earl Turney; a grandson, Sam Turney; and siblings, Earl Levi McCarty, Raymond Arthur McCarty, Willie Louis McCarty, Jessie Lucille McCarty, Henry Leroy McCarty, Lucy Irene McCarty, Gladys Inez McCarty, Noah Levi McCarty Jr., Bessie Mae McCarty, and Margaret Myrtle Marie McCarty.

She is survived by two daughters, Darla Harb and husband Mike, and Linda Shadwick and husband Bobby; grandchildren, Stephanie Reep (Keanon), Sarah Neighbors, Jessica Trujillo, Helaina Harb, and Alex Haravey (John); and great-grandchildren, Stevan Sowell (Addie), Mollie Tiner, Zoe Neighbors, Amelia Neighbors, Lamond Trujillo, Carlos Trujillo, and Narciso Trujillo. She is also lovingly remembered by two great-great-grandchildren, Emerson Jane Sowell and John Braxton Sowell. Special daughters-in-law Peggy Bullock and Becky Cash also survive her.

The family is deeply grateful for all of the people who cared for her these last few years, offering compassion, kindness, and comfort during her time of need.

Graveside services and burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at Lone Tree Cemetery Chapel, under the direction of Turpin Funeral Home of Stuttgart.
