Margaret Ann Feilke, 93, of Cleburne, Texas, widow of Glenn Feilke, after courageously battling cancer for 3 years passed away peacefully surrounded by her children Sunday, Sept. 7, 2025, at Bristol Park in Cleburne.
In addition to being a dedicated loving wife and mother Margaret was passionate about serving her community. She participated in a variety of activities including the PTA, YMCA, Food Banks and was a lifetime Girl Scout. (Her favorite Girl Scout cookie was the Thin Mint. As a mother, Margaret shared her love of God’s world by taking her children camping, hiking and fishing. She rarely missed attending any of her children’s sporting events. Margaret spent many hours in the kitchen making homemade ketchup, pickles, jams, and everyone’s favorites rice chex mix, lebkuchen and ice cream. She could never pass up a bowl of ice cream especially her favorite--chocolate chip mint.
Throughout her entire life she held an unwavering faith in God which she shared with those who surrounded her. In every location that Glenn’s military career took the family to, Margaret immediately became involved in local church activities. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, participated as a member and often chairperson on many church boards and committees, and was always active in the Lutheran Church Woman organizations. One of her favorite accomplishments was being selected to participate in the Lutheran Church Women’s African Exchange Program as a missionary in 1983. She also participated in many Lutheran Global Mission Events. Near the end of her life, each night she read her devotion aloud with her room door open so that anyone in the hall could hear God’s word.
Margaret loved being a military wife supporting Glenn throughout his career. She was active in the Army Officer’s Wives Club and enjoyed hosting events at her home and on base.
