Kathryn Elizabeth Swint

K athryn Elizabeth Swint, 92, of Stuttgart, widow of Charles Rayford Swint, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2023, at her home.

Mrs. Swint was born Oct. 31, 1931, in Stuttgart to Ed and Maude House and was the youngest of six children. She graduated from Stuttgart High School in 1949 and following graduation she began working for General Telephone Co. and was employed there until her marriage on Jan. 1, 1951. To this union three children were born.

After her children started school, she went to work for Safeway Grocery Store where she worked for 17 years. She then worked for Food King and IGA Grocery until she retired.

After retiring, she did what she did best and that was being a full-time grandmother still picking children up at the bus stop and watching them in the afternoon until just three months ago. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church where she also attended Sunday school.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Phillip Swint and Randy Swint; sisters, Gladys Robbins, Ruth Mock, Margaret Frances House and Dorothy Grace; and one brother, Allen “Snookie” House.

Survivors are her daughter, Rae Lynn Dorman; four grandchildren, Shelia (Ray) Ponder, Glenda (Tracy) Henley, Jason (Amber) Swint and Blake Swint; 10 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation is 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, at Turpin Funeral Home with funeral services, officiated by Bro. Gregg Greenway and Bro. Guy Looper, following at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Lone Tree Cemetery.
