JoAnn Pitonyak

JoAnn Pitonyak, 90, of Slovak passed away Friday, Aug. 21, 2026.

She was born Dec. 12, 1935, in Stuttgart, graduated from Stuttgart High School in1955 and married the love of her life Tommy Pitonyak that same year. They worked on their farm together with JoAnn driving the grain trucks to the mill. Being an avid reader, she didn’t mind at all since the long wait times gave her a chance to read. She enjoyed her weekly lunches with friends, and talking on the phone to family and friends. She was a member of Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church and the Altar Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Tommy Pitonyak. She is survived by sons, Eddie Pitonyak (Bridget) and Michael Pitonyak (Laurie); daughters, Cindy Ciganek (Terry Sr.) and Mary Ann Calhoun; grandchildren, Tabitha Beal, Terry Ciganek Jr., Dustin and Colton Pitonyak, Billie Jean Morgan, Joseph Pitonyak, Shelby and Stacie Calhoun; and 11 great-grandchildren.

A special thanks to Judy Brasko for the love and care she gave JoAnn.

A Rosary will be said at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, and visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. followed by Mass at 11 a.m., all at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Slovak.

Burial will follow in Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Cemetery by Turpin Funeral Home of Stuttgart.
