Gary Robnett, 72, of Casscoe passed away Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2023, at Baptist Health-Springhill.
Gary was born Jan. 21, 1951, in Stuttgart to Nolan “Sonny” and Margie Robnett. He was a 1968 graduate of Stuttgart High School where he played football for the Ricebirds with the best friend Danny Maloy. In their best years with Danny as quarterback and Gary as his receiver, the great Wally Hall dubbed them “Bat-Dan and Robinett”. He earned a football scholarship to the University of Central Arkansas and later to the University of Arkansas at Monticello.
After college, Gary was a general manager over Sanyo Industries in Forrest City, then managed Lennox Industries in Stuttgart and finally took over for his father at Robnett Farms. His sideline as a farmer was to bring in chicken litter and spread it for local farmers as an alternative to chemical fertilizer which proved mighty successful. He was member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dale Robnett.
Survivors are his wife, Celeste Stroh Robnett; sons, Sidney (Kathryn) Robnett of Stuttgart, Scott (Rhonda) Robnett of Conway and Kasey Robnett of DeValls Bluff; sister, Gayla Breedlove of Casscoe; and eight grandchildren, Christopher Robnett, Abigail Robnett, Brady Robnett, Jackson Robnett, Caison Robnett, Cael Robnett, Emma Robnett and August Robnett.
Visitation is 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, with funeral services, officiated by Mary Welch, following at 11 a.m. at Turpin Funeral Home. Burial will be in Lone Tree Cemetery.
The family requests memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105; or any children’s research hospital of the donor’s choice.
