Floyd Glenn Dabbs, of Stuttgart, Arkansas, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, was born on February 5, 1927, in Humphrey, Arkansas, and departed this life on November 3, 2025 at the age of 98 in Stuttgart. His parents, William Joseph Dabbs and Ethel Mae Clabourn Dabbs, preceded him in death.
He attended the one-room school in Vallier and then in Humphrey. At the age of 17 he joined the United States Navy and proudly served in the Pacific during WWII aboard the USS Prestige. He was Honorably discharged in 1946 and returned to Arkansas to attend Arkansas State Teachers College for two years. He then came back to Alcorn School and taught all 12 grades and was the bus driver.
On March 24, 1951 he married the love of his life, Ardis Davis. To this union was born their only son, Terry. After working out of state he returned to his roots and began farming with his father and his younger brother.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers, W.L. Dabbs and E.R. “Babe” Dabbs.
He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Ardis Davis Dabbs; his son, Terry Glenn Dabbs and his wife Lori; his grandchildren, Trent (Kristian) Dabbs, Stacey (Brian) Reeves, Tiffany (Matthew) Morris; a step-granddaughter Lauren (Eric) Scherm; and nine great-grandchildren, Cadence, Charlee, Finlee, Erin, Irie, Mykayla, Merritt, Winn and Beau.
Visitation will be Friday, November 10, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Turpin Funeral Home in Stuttgart followed by a service at 11:00. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Lone Tree Cemetery in Stuttgart.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Kirk Coker, Hospice Homecare and his caregivers, Melinda Miller and Melody Wilson.
The family suggests memorials to The Museum of the Arkansas Grand Prairie or the charity of their choice.
