Donald Everett "Possum" Painter

Donald Everett Painter, 90, of Stuttgart passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at Chambers Nursing and Rehab in Carlisle.

Mr. Painter, or “Possum” as he was also known, was born March 12, 1934, in Stuttgart to Everett and Iva Painter. He was owner of Park Avenue Nursery from 1967-2006 and a member of Grand Avenue United Methodist Church.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe Painter and Pete Painter.

Survivors are his wife of 68 years, Carolyn Painter; two daughters, Diane Edwards (Scott) of Hot Springs and Kim Oltmann (Gary) of Stuttgart; three grandsons, Christopher Moritz (Katie) of Mt. Ida and Lance Oltmann (Sarah and Dustin Oltmann, all of Stuttgart; three great-grandchildren, Declain Moritz of Stuttgart and Clayton Goyer and Chloe Goyer of Mt. Ida; and a host of nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
