Clara Jean Blackwood Dobson, 81, of Stuttgart passed away Monday, June 17, 2024, at Chambers Health and Rehabilitation Center in Carlisle.
Clara was born July 2, 1942, in Humnoke to Andrew Jackson Blackwood and Ivy Tanner Blackwood. She was a devoted minister’s wife for 27 years throughout Arkansas relocating to their hometown of Stuttgart when his health deteriorated. Following his passing, she worked at Belk before accepting the position of administrative assistant at the Stuttgart Public Library, a role of which she was most proud.
She was a faithful member of Grand Avenue United Methodist Church where she served on several committees. She loved sewing, reading, cross-stitching, gardening and baking. She was a five-year cancer survivor and would do anything for anyone in need. Besides her two daughters, she was most proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Everett Merrill Dobson Jr.; three brothers, Charles Blackwood, Dub Blackwood and James Blackwood; and a sister, Mary Bowen.
Survivors are her two daughters, Karen Domrase and husband Rodney of Stuttgart and Christine Beaton and husband Jeff of DeWitt; six grandchildren, Andrew Domrase (Keisha), Amanda Barks (Brad), Andrea Lindsey (Christopher) Jacob Jenkins, Joshua Jenkins (Katie) and Jessica Vaughn (Andrew); and 12 great-grandchildren, Lexus, Kaylin, Jackson, Ethan, Callie, Lily, Landon, Harper, Samuel, Caleb, Miles and Rylee.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Grand Avenue United Methodist Church. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Saturday at Grand Avenue United Methodist Church with burial in Lone Tree Cemetery by Turpin Funeral Home of Stuttgart.
