Calvin "Doc" Ponder

Calvin “Doc” Ponder, 73, of Stuttgart passed away Thursday, Dec. 5, 2024, at Baptist Health-Little Rock.

Doc was born April 12, 1951, at Brewer Bottoms in Arkansas County to Carl and Joyce Evelyn Gifford Ponder. He was a farm laborer all his life working the last 30 years for Michael Maier Farms.

Besides his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Cathy Ponder; brothers, Shelby “Bear” Ponder and James K. Ponder; and sister, Mary K. Warner.

Survivors are his son, Joseph Worring and wife Christina of Stuttgart; mother, Joyce Evelyn Ponder of Little Rock; brothers, Carrol Ray Ponder, J.C. Ponder, Raymond Ponder (Cindy Doreen), Steve Ponder, Marvin Ponder, and J.E. Ponder (Cindy K.), all of Stuttgart, and Stacy Ponder (Cindy Dawn) of Tumbling Shoals; sisters, Barbara Franzen (Marvin) of Maquoketa, Iowa, and Mildred Baldwin (Donald) and Patsy Jean Mingie (Les Mingie), both of Little Rock; two grandsons, Jackson Worring of Utah and Dillion Saffell of Stuttgart; many nieces and nephews; and his close friend, Michael Maier of Stuttgart.

Visitation is 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, at Turpin Funeral Home followed by funeral services at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Bayless Cemetery.
