Bernie Dale Brown, 76, of Stuttgart passed away Saturday, Aug. 9, 2025.
Bernie was born Sept. 24, 1948, in Ethel, Ark., to Elder Bernie Joe Brown and Emma Belle Padgett Brown. He was a 1967 graduate of Stuttgart High School. He retired after over 38 years with Riceland.
Bernie never met a stranger. He loved gospel music, traveling and the Razorbacks but his passion was the St. Louis Cardinals. He loved softball and helped organize the Stuttgart Softball Association where he enjoyed years of coaching and umpiring. He was a big supporter of youth sports coaching the the Producer’s Rice Mill in baseball, the Knights of Columbus Black Hawks in football and the Bucks in basketball. He was an influence to many local youth who became productive and successful men.
He accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Park Avenue Missionary Baptist Church.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Emma JoAnn Brown Fox.
Survivors are his wife and the love of his life who he married on Aug. 26, 1967, Carolyn Brown; two sons, Dale Brown and wife Jackie of Ulm and Daren Brown of Bryant; his granddaughter and the apple of his eye, Virginia (Gabe) Brown Carr of Cedar Hill, Texas; two bonus grandsons, Herbert Manuel (Kiera) of Sherwood and Justin Dupree (Morgan) of Maryland; four great-grandchildren, Serentiy, Drake, Gabby and Grace; four bonus great-grandchildren, Kaydence, Austin, Te’gan and Harper; and a host of nieces and nephews and many good friends.
Visitation is 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, followed by funeral services is 2 p.m. at Turpin Funeral Home chapel. Burial will follow in Lone Tree Cemetery.
Bernie’s family asks that memorials be made to Stuttgart Parks and Recreation, 304 S. Main St., Stuttgart, Ark. 72160, and in the memo line please write Reinsch Park so monies will go directly to youth sports.
