Felton Melba Henderson died January 18, 2011, in Huntington
Beach, California. He was born June 25, 1920, near Stuttgart to
Alonza J. "Lon" and Effie Biggam Henderson. He was a 1939
graduate of Stuttgart High School. He engaged in farming until
an accident in the early 1950s forced him to retire from
farming. He loved to hunt and served as a duck hunter's guide
for several years. In 1954 he moved to Cleveland, Ohio, and went
to work as a machinist. After 40 years, he retired and returned
to Stuttgart. He was a member of Humphrey United Methodist
Church.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two wives, Ruth
Wegert Henderson and Margaret Lenhard Henderson; three brothers,
Leslie, A.J. Jr. and Dale Henderson; two half-brothers, Ralph
Henderson and Woxie Randolph; and one sister, Thelma Henderson
Black.
Survivors include his daughter, Lynda Kay Morgan of Huntington
Beach; three grandchildren, Cherie Lynn Wheeler and husband
Paul, Charles W. Morgan II and Stephen Anthony Morgan; six
great-grandchildren, Jordan, Benjamin and Mollie Wheeler and
Derrick, Samuel and Forrest Morgan; one sister, Lucille Moritz;
and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services, officiated by the Rev. George Crumbly Jr., are
2 p.m. Tuesday, January 25, at Humphrey United Methodist Church
with burial following in Sunshine Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Monday at Turpin Funeral Home in
Stuttgart. |
